Hello! We are the Mason Family: Ian, Lorraine, Sydney and Brianna.
When we are at Terra Verde, we like to introduce ourselves to our guests. The majority comment that “it’s nice to put a face to the name”, so I am writing this page to introduce my family to you …..
We bought our first Villa (Blue Blossom) on Terra Verde Resort in 2004, as a holiday home for us to use while the children were on English school holidays. We also rented out the Villa to family and friends. Lots of the visitors gave us some wonderful comments about how beautiful the Villa was and how wonderful Terra Verde Resort is. So we purchased two more Villas at Terra Verde when the opportunity arose and rented them to others via various web sites. Now we find that all three Villas are busy and we are currently looking into purchasing another one.
Ian and I worked on Cruise Ships and spent ten years traveling the world. We met 15 years ago on board the Star Princess, which some of you will know as the “Love Boat” from the hit T-V series of the 70’s and 80’s. At that time, Ian was a Bar Manager and I was a Photographer.
Ship life is not really good for married couples, so we decided to leave the single life behind us. We left the ships in August of 1997 and were married a month later. We settled down in my hometown of Leeds, England. Just over a year later, Sydney was born and then, 19 months later, Brianna completed our family.
Both of us both being workaholics and wanting to run our own businesses, Ian bought a DHL Franchise and I set up my own Photographic Studio, specializing in weddings and children’s portraits. With Ian’s experience in hospitality and corporate management from previously working for Princess and Marriott, he found there was a high demand for Hospitality Managers.
As well as running the DHL Franchise, Ian also became a Weekend Manager of Pool Court (the only Michelin Star Rated Restaurant in Leeds) and also a Catering Manager at Leed’s United Football Club. I had enough on my plate with a business and having our two little girls to look after.
Two years ago, we set the wheels in motion and moved to Florida on a more permanent basis, because all four of us loved the time we expended while visiting. Ian spent months searching for a good business to buy and, in 2006, found an investigative and security business in Cape Coral, Florida, which is 30 miles North of Naples. Ian also became President of the Homeowner’s Association at Terra Verde. We try to get to Terra Verde at least once a month, but that sometimes does not work out. The Villas are normally busy and we often end up either staying with friends or renting someone else’s Villa or Townhome.
